We had a VERY low key New Year's eve. We hung out with friends until about 10pm then headed home and watched the ball drop in NY (eastern time) before falling fast asleep :) Oh how the times have changed!! I soaked up every single second of QT time with Ben... getting so much time off spoiled me rotten! He is SO much fun right now and learns something new every day. I am constantly being surprised by his ability and personality.
The birthday party in Chattanooga was so fun! All of the pictures from that weekend were taken with Sue's camera, including some REALLY cute ones of Ben and Baker. Hopefully I can snag those soon!
Last weekend in Nashville I got to see all of my beautiful adpi sisters and celebrate one of my best friend's little baby boy. Due in late Feb., little Lucas James is going to be well loved, that's for sure. We threw the shower at Puffy Muffin in Brentwood and it was awesome... delicious lunch, cake and cookies! Ben got to spend some time with BeBe and iPop... although they were both horribly sick and we were all just praying that we wouldn't bring the germs back to Bham with us. Knock on wood - we are still all healthy!
me and the mommy to be!
all the girls!
the hostesses
This was my first time to see my BFF Chelsea who got engaged over Christmas!!!! Her date is set for September and I couldn't be more excited for her!! :) I know she is just going to be the most beautiful bride!!
Ben turned 17 months on Christmas Eve and then 18 months yesterday! This age is just awesome. His personality gets cuter and cuter each day. He is so expressive. Ben... this is what you have been up to lately:
- Talking a lot more! You know all of his animal sounds and most of the animal names. My favorite is "horsey says NEIGH". You throw your head back and say it really loudly! You repeat anything and everything we say to your best ability. Sometimes it sounds like gibberish but we can tell you are trying! It's funny hearing you repeat phrases that we say all the time... like "all right!", "cool", and "Wheee".
- You have learned the word "No" and LOVE telling your Daddy "No"... it's so stinking cute but I know that it is quickly going to be not so fun :)
- You can do more sign language including "please" and "eat" which is so cute.
- You love music and dancing and playing your guitar
- You LOVE choo choos
- You are OBSESSED... and I mean literally OBSESSED with "Wheels on the Bus"... you do all of the motions and it is the.cutest.thing.ever. The part that is not so cute is that we have to listen to it in the car on repeat and when we are at home you point to the computer or iPad and say "round and round????" We have contributed easily 1 million hits to the below:
- You still love reading and we read about 15 books before bed each night
- SPEAKING of bedtime... this is just the cutest thing in the world. You are such a good baby when it's time for "night night". You never cry anymore and say "night night" and smile and wave each time we lay you down at night. You also LOVE to be tucked in.
- You wake up each morning saying "Mommy?? Mommy? Moooommmmyyy!!" It melts my heart :)
- At 18 months you are 31.5 inches tall and 25 lbs. You are in the 25%.
- You still love bananas and want one for breakfast every morning. You also love yogurt, cereal bars, oatmeal, goldfish and cheese. We try to serve you a balanced diet but you can be really picky sometimes!
- You chug water like it's your job... reminds me of you Daddy!
- You are beginning to be more independent... you want to feed yourself and do things for yourself that you used to need help on... bittersweet!
- You have been in "timeout" chair a few times due to little tantrums. They don't last long and it is really confusing because we usually don't know what has made you so upset.
- You LOVE your mommy - which makes me so super happy. I don't want the mommy-stage to ever end!
