Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. I John 4:7-8

monteagle getaway

So, here I go again. Back-posting. Better late than never, right?

I didn't post about Father's Day because Matt had to work and we had a Father's Day do-over the next weekend.  Here is Ben with his Dad on the actual day:

Ben's Winnie bid on a cabin in Monteagle for a long weekend at a silent auction and ended up winning.  We planned the trip for the end of June which just happened to be Mr. Benjamin's 11 month birthday!  We had an awesome weekend of quality grandparent time, hiking, eating and of course, relaxing and getting to sleep in!  One of the best perks about having parents who are crazy about their grandchild is that they totally take over and let mom and dad go on a date and relax :) so lucky are we!  We got to see Buffett for the first time in a month, too!

We took off work Friday and headed up to TN and got to the cabin late Thursday night.  Friday we went to a great breakfast at a local place that was like a Cracker Barrel but better. So yummy!  We went back to the cabin and hung out until noon.

Ben and his new favorite method of transportation... the wagon!

such the little cheese! only Winnie can make learning this much fun!

not a good picture, but a priceless face!

opening up a can of whoop a** - haha!

Winnie stayed home with Ben that afternoon and my dad, Matt and I went on a hike to see some of the most beautiful land on God's earth.  We will definitely be going back for lots of camping trips! The hike was part of the Fiery Gizzard trail... it was a-w-e-s-o-m-e!  I love hikes with great scenery and surprises... this one had it all.  We saw about 7 waterfalls, each more beautiful than the last! It rained almost the whole time but I think that made it better... the trees kept up sheltered from it mostly. So nice being surrounded by God's creation!

being silly / humoring me

happy late father's day to my daddy, too!

love my little mountain man!

We went back and grabbed Bennie and Winnie and headed to the pool and overlook. We didn't think we'd swim because it was getting late, but Ben couldn't resist.  He stripped down and ran all over the place! It was hysterical to watch... prob even more fun to do!

kick kick kick

i.love.this.picture! is that not the cutest thing you've ever seen!

These are from the overlook... gorgeous!!

happy baby!

We then headed to the lake to check out the "beach" and canoes and such... it was getting close to dinner time so we just played around for a bit (and took some more photos- shocker!)

That night Matt and I got a nice date night while my parents baby sat... such a treat! We found a nice little Italian place, over ordered and had some wine.  It was kind of the perfect ending to the perfect day!

Saturday we did much of the same... ate, slept, relaxed, went for wagon rides, swam at the pool and went on a hike.  This time Ben and Winnie came on the hike with us and it was more gorgeous than the day before.  There was one huge waterfall and my dad, matt and I got in at the end and went for a swim... it was so awesome! Very refreshing!  My mom and Ben hung out at the shore and threw rocks :)  He LOVED it.  He is so advanced :)

Here are some pictures of Saturday's activities... because I know this post has been lacking on the photos :) Sorry!! It's better than "listening" to me, right?

Lunch!

Then on to the hike!

see any similarity?

More to come.... like, Ben's 11 month milestones and 4th of July!  But for now... sleep!!

  1. Ben's hair is looking a little reddish in some of those pictures. Is that the lighting, or is he going to be a little red head?! He is a DOLL and growing so fast. You must be so proud of him!
